York—Raymond O. “Junie” Ruth Jr, 83, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at York Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Rena Mae (Clemens) Ruth to whom he was married for 47 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at St. Paul’s (Wolf’s) Evangelical Covenant Church, 4501 Wolf’s Church Rd, York, with his pastor the Rev. Matthew H. Stillman officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11 AM, Wednesday, at the church. Burial will be held in St. Paul’s (Wolf’s) Union Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born March 28, 1928 at the family farm in Thomasville, he was a son of the late Amanda A. (Joseph) and Raymond O. Ruth Sr. He attended the former Mouls one room school house. He was employed with GTE Sylvania as a machinist for 40 years until his retirement in 1991. Raymond was also the former owner of the Knotty Pine Tavern. A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was also a life member of the Royal Fire Company, BD Social Club, Prince and Viking Athletic Assoc., 13th Ward Democratic Club, Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and W. York V.F.W. Post 8951 and a member of St. Paul’s (Wolf’s) Evangelical Covenant Church. Mr. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Robyn M. Bupp and her husband, Neil of Manchester and Rayann M. Johnson and her husband, Gary of York; one son, Raymond O. Ruth III and his wife, Jennifer; four grandchildren, Melissa and Adam Bupp and Quintin and Raychel Johnson; two great grandchildren, Willem and Caleb; two sisters, Kathleen Henry and Phyllis Luckenbaugh, Lifelong Friend, Harry “Uncle Hap” Akins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angie Bupp, sister, Lorraine Krout and two brothers, Spurgeon and Kenneth Ruth. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s (Wolf’s) Evangelical Covenant Church, Building Fund, 4501 Wolf’s Church Rd, York, Pa 17404 or Palliative Care/Bereavement Services, 1001 S.
