YORK- Ralph B. Persson, 86, died on July 29, 2009 at York Lutheran Home at Sprinkle Village. He was the husband of the late Jean C. (Craumer) Persson. Services are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born April 8, 1923, he was the son of the late Rudolf and Helga (Johanson) Persson. Mr. Persson worked as a Draftsman for the AB Rote & Company in Lancaster. Mr. Persson served our country for four years in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in Panama and was a lifelong member of the Disabled Americans. He was a life member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church serving many terms on the Church Council, Kitchen Committee and the Evangelism Committee. Ralph was a member of the Lutheran Men's Organization and was a Pennsylvania State Master Gardener for 16 years. He was a Boy Scout Troop 23 Treasurer for more than 25 years. In 1992 he was given The Lamb Award in recognition of distinguished service to the Lutheran Church and its youth through Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Persson is survived by a son, Richard C. Persson and his wife Brenda of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; a daughter, Susan P. Kress and her husband Art of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Erin, Kendall, and Taylor Persson and Abby and Ashley Kress.
