HANOVER - Quentin O. Shaffer, 93, a former resident of Renovo, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace. He was the husband of Cecelia T. (Kennedy) Shaffer, who died June 7, 2003. Born September 24, 1918, in Bennezette, PA, he was the son of the late Jack and Violet (Hollingsworth) Shaffer. Quentin was retired from Conrail Railroad in Renovo. He was a life member of the Renovo American Legion and served proudly in the US Marine Corps during WWII. Surviving are four children; Philip J. Shaffer and his wife Margaret of Elizabethville, PA, Joyce A. Leonard and her husband Richard of McSherrystown, Mary Kaye Boyd and her husband Preston of Rosepine, LA, and Jack Shaffer and his wife Dolores of McSherrystown, seven grandchildren; Beth Graham, Christine Leonard, Tony Leonard, Derek Shaffer, Valerie Itzen, Nick Shaffer and Amanda Shaffer, and six great-grandchildren, one brother; Jack Shaffer and his wife Barbara of Renovo and a sister Orpha Wilson and her husband William of Panama City, FL. He was preceded in death by a brother; Dale Shaffer and a sister Rhea Ward. A Funeral Service will be held 6 pm Sunday, at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with Rev. Nancy Werner officiating. Friends and relatives will be received Sunday from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home. An additional service will be held at Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Ronovo, PA on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 11 am with a visitation from 10 to 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hyner, PA Contributions in remembrance of Quentin may be made to Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrage, 2100 Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA 17331 or St. Joseph Church, 925 Hurron Avenue, Renovo, PA 17764.
