Michael H. Amos, 65, of Pottsville, died Wednesday at the Pottsville Hospital. Born in Reading on January 25, 1942, he was a son of the late John Amos Sr., and Mildred Miller. He attended Reading schools. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. On May 24, 1969 he married the former Merle Hasenauer, who survives. Until retiring he was employed by the Garden State Tannery, Parrish Steel and the Pottsville Career Link. He and his wife also owned and operated Amos' Store in Pottsville. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. He was a Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop, a leader for the Camp Fire Organization, he was the commanding officer of the young Marines and a life member of the Marine Corp League. He was also a fan of John Wayne and his movies. Surviving Michael in addition to his wife are: three sons, Robert and his wife Renee; Todd and Darren, all of Pottsville; three grandchildren, Brianna and Kelsey Amos and Brandon Yotko; two brothers, Bernard and his wife Cathy, of West Reading and John and his wife Jean of Reading; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 AM from the Trinity Lutheran Church. Family and friends may call at the church on Sunday evening from 7-9 and Monday from 10-11. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc. 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville will be handling the arrangements.
