YORK – Merle A. Taylor, 90, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy. He was the husband of Alma F. (Ahrens) Taylor with whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage on December 3, 2022.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 3, 2023 at Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Road, Red Lion with Rev. Bill Jones and Pastor Larry Parlett officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11:00 AM Friday at the Church. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
Born in southern York County, a son of the late J. Donnell and Martha E. (Bacon) Taylor; he dedicated his life to his family farm. Mr. Taylor was also a Pioneer Seed Corn representative and held part time positions with Red Lion Bus Company and Miller Plant Farm. As someone who was always giving of his time, he served as Windsor Twp. Assessor and on the York County Soil & Water Conservation District Board. Merle was a member of Bethlehem Stonepile UM Church, North American Trap Collectors Assoc., PA Trappers Assoc., and PA Farm Bureau. Mr. Taylor enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and will be remembered by his family and friends for his famous storytelling style.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Taylor is survived by a son, Kim A. and wife Jennie Taylor of York; two daughters, Laura L. and husband Stephen McCauley of York and Lynn M. Taylor and husband Terry Wildermuth of Fenwick Island, DE; three grandchildren, Wendy Sullivan, Katie and husband Joseph Nolan, and Lindsey Taylor and husband Brad Muller; four great grandsons, Brayden, Conner, Deklyn, and Kenneth; and a sister, Betty Lou Neff of York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight and Ross Taylor; and a sister, Hilda Goheen.
