Mary A. (Meckly) Hertz

WEST MILTON - Mary A. (Meckly) Hertz, 97, died Thursday, January 02, 2014 at Milton Nursing and Rehab Center, Milton. She was born in West Milton on March 14, 1916 and was the daughter of the late Merrill and Tryphina (Byerly) Meckly. Mary married the late Robert G. “Bob” Hertz in 1940 and they celebrated 56 years of marriage together until his death on February 02, 1996. She was a graduate of Milton Area High School and then went on to attend the Woman’s Business School, Philadelphia. After she completed school, Mary became the personal secretary for Hector Boiardi. Mary also worked as a bank officer for numerous banks around the area. Mary was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Milton, the Milton Garden Club, Wynding Brook Country Club and the Wynding Brook Woman’s Golf Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, watching the Penn State football games and she also loved entertaining guests at their home with her husband Bob. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one brother; Robert W. Meckly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 47 Walnut Street, Milton PA 17847. All services are being conducted privately. Burial will take place in Milton Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton PA 17847.
