SPRY Margaret J. “Margie” (Cornbower) Wentz, 95, died at 7:30 PM Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Rest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – York. She was the wife of the late Levere C. Wentz. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with Pastor Paul Bentzel officiating. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 9 to 10:00 AM Saturday at the chapel. Margaret was born February 12, 1919, in Carroll County, MD. She was the daughter of the late Peter S. and Maggie A. (Sterner) Cornbower. She was a professional cake decorator and had worked with the former Jay’s Supermarket on Maryland Ave. for ten years prior to her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the New Fairview Church of the Brethren and attended the Helping Hands Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Sychar Shrine and White Shrine of Jerusalem #36 for more than 50 years and was a life-member of the Cross Keys Brethren Home Auxiliary. Margaret is survived by a foster son, Thomas Hoff, of York; a grandson, Richard L. Wentz, Jr. and his wife, Karen of York; three great grandchildren, Sarah, Seth and Lydia; a number of nieces and nephews including Betty Carroll of York; and many dear friends from Springwood Overlook, where she formerly lived. Also dear to Margaret were Lisa and Mary Ann. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Wentz, Sr.; a grandson, Keith Allan Wentz; three brothers; and two sisters.
