JERSEY SHORE - Magda E. (Rushton)McMillen, 80, known by many as “Mac” or “Mags” passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 after a hard fought illness. She was born on June 8, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Fred and Lucille (Lee) Rushton. She grew up in Augusta, Georgia and New York City. Mac was a long time resident of Jersey Shore, having moved there in 1987 to enjoy the beautiful Nippenose Valley. Mac entered the nursing profession and worked for forty years, much of that time in the Philadelphia area, forming many life-long bonds, working in hospitals, retirement communities then driving throughout Central Pennsylvania for years, as a nurse visiting “clients” to conduct physical exams related to life insurance. She also developed many treasured friendships among the Amish community. She was intensely interested in people and never had a job that she did not love. She was rarely short of ideas or opinions about “what needs to be done” and did not hesitate to help out in providing care for others. Mac loved Central Pennsylvania and enjoyed fishing area lakes and streams, knitting and cooking. Over the past several years, Mac was an outspoken and dynamic public relations advocate for the Hearing Loss Association of Lycoming County, where she once again made dear friends. Mac is survived by one brother; Franklin, two sisters; Barbara and Sandra, one nephew; Cameron one niece; Mary Beth, close family friends, Micky and David Kibbe and their children, and many dear friends and caring neighbors who loved and cared for her dearly.
