Lucy E. (Rodgers) Werner

YORK- Lucy E. (Rodgers) Werner, 85, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Harry R. Werner.   A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with the Rev. Fred A. Walthour officiating. A visitation will be held 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.   Mrs. Werner was born on May 21, 1925 in York, a daughter of the late Frank R. and Laura N. (Stough) Rodgers, and her late step-mother Mabel C. Rodgers.   Mrs. Werner was a former employee for Danskin for over 40 years until her retirement in 1987.   She was a member of the Pine Ridge Swim Club for almost 50 years, and the Tuesday morning bowling league at Colony Park.   She was a very socially active lady and a very caring person. One of her favorite things were Cardinal birds.   Mrs. Werner is survived by a brother, Charles Rodgers of Homosassa, FL; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends, especially Brenda Kiepert and husband, Tom of Jacobus. She was preceded in death by two brothers; and three sisters.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to S.P.C.A, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA, 17406.
