POTTSVILLE - LaVerne Staller, 83, of Pottsville, died Monday morning at the Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian St., Pottsville. Born in Kaska on September 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Maybelle (Stone) Russell. She was a former member of the Salvation Army, Pottsville. LaVerne was a musician, often playing on the Willy Whistle Show on WPPA, and also in churches and fairs. LaVerne also wrote her own songs and poetry and enjoyed drawing. She was employed by the VanHeusen Corp. A good listener and loving family member, LaVerne is survived by: her husband, Kenneth E., Pottsville; a son Kenneth R., and his wife Sandy, of York; a daughter, Deborah Dehner and her companion John Schauers, of Pottsville; three grandchildren, Zachery Staller, Amy Mills and Amber Hedemann; three great grandchildren, Miranda, Anthony and Nathanael; a sister, Blanche Rehrig, Orwigsburg; nieces nephews & great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a great granddaughter, Kelsey Nicole Mills; sisters, Maybel Dinger, Gladys Yoder, Elizabeth Cook, Hazel Sheriff and an infant sister; and four brothers, John, Arthur, Raymond and Bobby Russell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 until time of service Thursday morning. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
