DOVER- Kenneth E. Hoffman, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his home. He was the loving husband and best friend of Fae L. (Dietz) Hoffman and the late Nancy (Shorb) Hoffman. Born April 3, 1927 in Dover, he was the son of the late Claude and Mazie (Latchaw) Hoffman. A graduate and valedictorian of his class at Dover Area High School, he entered the Army after graduation. He was a Staff Sergeant, an unassigned member of the Third Army, Headquarters Office, Ft. Jackson, SC. During the latter part of World War II he headed the Discharge Section. One of the first groups he discharged had just returned from Germany, having served under General Patton. He was employed by I. Reindollar and Son, Inc., as a building estimator, becoming Vice President in 1969 and President in 1976 until his retirement in 1990. A few of the Reindollar buildings include: Dallastown and Dover Middle Schools, Southwestern High School, Cold Storage and Controlled Atmosphere Buildings for Knouse Foods Co-op, 20 plus years of maintenance and installation of production lines for Caterpillar, clean rooms for RCA, concrete and carpentry work for West Manchester Mall, and the Colonial Court House. He served as the Employer Trustee on York Area Laborers Health & Welfare & Pension Trust Funds and Plasters & Cement Masons Health & Welfare & Pension Trust Funds. Ken enjoyed golfing, bowling, and hunting. He was a charter member of the Dover Rod and Gun Club in Potter County and had gone on several hunting trips to Wyoming. He played baseball for Dover in the Central League and managed Dover in 1951 to a league championship. Mr. Hoffman was a life member of the Out Door Country Club and the York County History Center. In addition to his wife of 33 years, Ken is survived by two daughters, Cathy Jacobs (Robert) and Vicki Cluck (companion John Meisenhelder); three grandchildren, Lisa Buer (Justin), Alyson Cluck (fiancé Dr. Colin Prensky) and Jason Cluck (fiancé Tori Bare), and one great grandson, Jacob Buer. Services will be held at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, on Monday, October 24, 2016, officiated by Pastor Robert Jacobs. A viewing will be held from 10-11 AM with a Celebration of Life tribute service at 11 AM. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family request that you pay tribute to Ken's generous nature by donating to a charity of your choice. The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice & Community Care for the exceptional care given to Ken, especially by Holly, Kim and Esther.
