WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Kenneth "Gary" Bachman, 60, of York, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Tuesday, June 1, 2010. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Sandt) Bachman. The couple celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on August 21, 2009. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service Gary was born in York on February 20, 1950, a son of Ruth D. (Bury) Bachman of Dover and the late Kenneth Bachman. He retired in 2005 after 32 years as a Middle School Teacher for the South Eastern School District. Gary was a 1968 graduate of York Suburban High School and a 1977 graduate of York College and then continued on to receive his Masters Degree in Education. He was a past President of South Eastern Education Association. He was a member of Shiloh American Legion post 791, where he was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. He was a member of Emporium VFW, post 6221, Emporium Moose Lodge, post 368, York Riflemen, Starview Sportsman's Club, National Rifle Association, and the Flintlock Camp of Emporium. He was a US Navy veteran who served on the USS John F. Kennedy for four years. Along with his wife and mother, Gary leaves a daughter, Amy Bachman Day and her husband Tim of York, a sister Sue March and her husband Robert D. March, II of Shiloh and two nieces and two nephews.
