BEECH CREEK - Joseph F. Berry, 90 passed away Friday, January 8, 2010 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1919 in Beech Creek the son of Henry C. and Mabel D. (Dehaas) Berry. He was married on March 23, 1945 in Altoona to the former B. Pauline McCloskey who died March 22, 2006. Mr. Berry worked for Piper Aircraft, Hammermill and retired in 1979 from PENNDOT as a superintendent. He was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church. He served as past chairman of the Clinton County Democratic Party. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and he enjoyed farming. His other memberships include Beech Creek Fire Company, Beech Creek American Legion, Howard Lions Club. He served on the Bald Eagle Nittany School Board. He enjoyed driving his 1966 Ford Fairlane Convertible in local parades. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII from June 9, 1941 - Oct. 21, 1945. Surviving are two sons Thomas C. (Wanda) Berry and J. Fred (Darlene) Berry both of Beech Creek. Four grandchildren (Joe, Barbara, Allen and Benjamin) also two great-grandchildren Emily and Carey. One brother Perry W. Berry of Jersey Shore and a sister Emma Lou Andrews of Milesburg. He was preceded in death by four sisters Frances Elliot, Cecelia LaMaglio, Jane B. Long, Dorothy Iko and a brother Harold. The funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2009 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Terry N. Daugherty officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral chapel from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday. Interment will be at Hayes-Fearon Cemetery.
