James P. Thompson

RED LION—James P. Thompson, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his residence in N. Hopewell Township. He was the husband of Jean L. (Tomes) Thompson to whom he was married for 23 years.


A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00AM, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Round Hill Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 7362 Church Rd, Cross Roads, Pa 17322. Officiating the service will be his pastor, the Rev. David Feiser. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.


Born September 07, 1940 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Orville I. and Ruth C.A. (Tessman) Thompson.


For the last 11 years of his career, he was employed as an electrical maintenance engineer with R. H. Sheppard in Hanover until his retirement in 2010. He was previously employed in computer sales with Hewlett Packard and Terradyne.


A member of Round Hill Evangelical Presbyterian Church, American Radio Relay League, Amateur Ham Radio Club in Felton, Pleasant Valley Golf Club, the Ocala North RV Resort in Reddick, FL and Good Sams RV Club-Cumberland Valley Travelers, he was also a licensed pilot and respected member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 42 years.


In addition to his wife, Mr. Thompson is also survived by five children, Robert Thompson and his wife, Sherrie of Powder Springs, GA, Brian Thompson and his wife, Lisa of Winfield, MO, Jamie Cochran and her husband, Daniel of Winter Park, FL, Thomas Rauhauser of Apoka, FL and Tabatha Bensel of Eagle River, AK; eight grandchildren, Kayla, Robert Jr., Nicole, Matthew, Joshua, Nathan, Jacob and Audrey; one great grandchild, Jude; one brother, Mike Thompson of Emporium and his wife, Judy of Summerville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Round Hill Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 7362 Church Rd, Cross Roads, PA 17322 or Alcoholics Anonymous, General Service Office, PO Box 459, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10163.
