Dover—J. Clyde Bennett, 84, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at his residence in Conewago Township. He was the husband of Ruth R. (Hoffmaster) Bennett to whom he was married for 48 years. A funeral tribute will be 2 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. A viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Born January 17, 1924 in Linglestown, he was the son of the late Clyde N. and Ella M. (Bashore) Bennett. He was employed as a Machine Operator with Manley Valve for 18 years until his retirement in 1990 and previously worked for International Paper for 20 plus years. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was also a life member of 9th Ward Social Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bennett is also survived by four sons, Clyde J. Bennett of York, Clyde N. Sweitzer of York, James C. Bennett of Dover, and Jeffrey C. Bennett of York, three step children, Paul H. Sweitzer Jr., of Dover, Linda M. Latshaw of Dover, and Trudy R. Gunnett of Red Lion, 16 grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
