Helmut H. Wirschal

Helmut H. Wirschal, 87, died on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Eva A.K. (Hedler) Wirschal who died on January 30, 2004. The couple had been happily married for 45 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with Pastor Skip Nizinski officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed on HeffnerCare.com by searching Helmut’s obituary. Private burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born on January 9, 1934 in Jueterbog, Germany, he was the son of the late Edmund H. and Anna (Frank) Wirschal. Helmut received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Dresden University, Master’s Degree in Business Administration from York College and Professional Engineering Degree from Penn State. Mr. Wirschal attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in York. He loved exercise at the JCC, the outdoors, hiking with the York Hiking Club, American and German football, and most especially loved his family. Helmut is survived by three daughters, Kerstin Lane of York, Karen Wirschal of York and Marion Wirschal of Ellicott City, MD; four grandchildren, Mark Lane and his wife, Krystal, Melissa Lane, Anna Wirschal and Matthew Lane and his wife, Shannon, all of York; two brothers, Manfred Wirschal of Germany and Guenter Wirschal and his wife, Trudel of Germany; sister-in-law, Rita Vetter and her husband, Alfred of Germany; and brother-in-law, Helmuth Treichel and his wife, Ursula of Augsburg, Germany.
