DANVILLE - Helen M. (Rebar) Manning, 92, widow of Bruce E. "Cap" Manning departed this life on September 30, 2009 at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, PA, where she had been a patient since September 25, 2009. After the death of her beloved husband in April, 2007 she resided for a short time with her son Terry and his wife and then with her son Donald and his wife prior to becoming a resident of Graysonview Memory Care Unit in Selinsgrove, PA, in February, 2009. Helen was born July 30, 1917 in Bassett, Nebraska. She and her family moved to Pennsylvania in 1929. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Seger) Rebar. Prior to her marriage she worked at the Milton Shirt Factory. Helen was most proud of her family. In addition to her family, she enjoyed taking care of her home, gardening, and cooking and baking. All her many friends and family looked forward to the many pies, cakes, cookies, donuts and sticky buns she baked. Helen Manning was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Like her beloved "Cappy", she was an excellent role model and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Bruce Manning, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Summerton, SC., Joyce Judy and her husband Donald of Mill Creek WA, Barbara Colburn and her husband Donald of Harrisburg, PA, Terry Manning and his wife Nancy of Watsontown, PA, and Donald Manning and his wife Rhonda, of Danville, PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Timothy Manning, Sandra Dunn, Steve Manning, Michelle Nixon, Michelle Judy and Doug Judy, and five great grandchildren, Brian Manning, Brittany Honkomp, Caitlin Dunn, Bronwyn Dunn and Colin Dunn. She is also survived by a sister Dorothy Kennedy, Smyrna, Delaware and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, "Cappy", an infant daughter and the following brothers and sisters, John Rebar, Mable Manning, Mary Gessner, and Charles Rebar. Family funeral services will be provided by the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Milton, PA and the Reverend Patricia Pittsnogle, Pastor of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milton, PA. Which will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1125 Mahoning Street, Milton, PA, 17847 or to the Alzheimer's Association.
