Gordon M. Rowe

AVOCA-Gordon M. Rowe, 97, of Glen Head, New York, formerly of Avoca, passed away Wednesday evening at Sunharbor Manor, Roslyn Heights, New York. Born in Montreal, Canada on January 2, 1911, he was the son of the late Robert and Frances ( Rees ) Rowe. He was a graduate of Avoca High School Class of 1928 and an Army veteran of World War II. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Erie Lackawanna Rail Road. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jessie Johnson; sisters Reva Cawley and Rose Meneeley; step-brother Burton Sharp. Surviving are his daughter Carol Downing and her husband, Jeremiah, Glen Head, New York; grandson Kevin Downing. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, with the Reverend Doctor Susan J. Ezell officiating.
