Avis - Gordon F. "Bud" McKinney, age 81, died at his residence on Sat. Feb. 2, 2008. He was born in Lock Haven on June 11, 1926, son of the late John and Hazel (Grimmins) McKinney. Bud was a retired steelworker from Jersey Shore Steel Co. with over 40 years service. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union, the Avis American Legion, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He is survived by his special companion of many years: Shirley J. Smith and her daughters, Patty and Dawn, sons: Wayne McKinney of Jonesborough, Tenn. and Jeffery L. McKinney of Avis, daughters: Carol (Pat) Peluso of Mocanaqua and Mary McKinney of Lexington, S. Carolina. Also surviving are five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brother: John McKinney of Bellefonte, and sisters: Darlene McKinney and Phyllis Robinson of Lock Haven, Norleu Fiddler of Nashville, Tenn, Lois LeGrand of Azell, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife: Alva R. McKinney in 1976 and one sister. Funeral services will be held at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Fr. Donald E. Boslett officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park where military honors will be provided by the Lycoming Co. Korean War Veterans contingent.
