York-Gerald F. Pepo, 89, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Marsh) Pepo. A graveside tribute will be held 11 am, Monday, April 25, 2011 at Mt. Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mt. Rose Ave, York. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born November 14, 1921 in York, he was a son of the late Fred J. and Esther P. (Eberley) Pepo. He was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for combat injuries sustained while serving in the European Theatre. He was employed with Caterpillar as a CNC machinist for 30 years, until his retirement in 1984. A member of the NRA, he was also an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. Mr. Pepo is survived his brother, Emory M. Pepo of Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by one sister, Romaine P. Pepo, and one brother, Roger L. Pepo.
