George W. Daneker, Sr.

MIDDLETOWN, PA- George W. Daneker, Sr, 84, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Frey Village Senior Living. He was the husband of the late Patricia M. (Meyer) Daneker. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2016 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2335 Cramer Road, Brogue. His Pastor, The Rev. Kathleen A. Kuehl will be officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30-2:00 PM at the Church. Burial will be in St. James Church Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Daneker was born August 3, 1932 in Williamsport, PA a son of the late George J. and Emily (Housel) Daneker. He was a 1950 graduate of South Williamsport High School, attended Valley Forge Military Academy, a 1956 graduate of Penn State University with his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a 1983 graduate of US Army War College. Mr. Daneker retired as a Sr. Test Engineer from Test & Evaluation Command at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He was an avid gardener and became a gentleman farmer in retirement as he and his wife owned and operated Seven Springs Farm in Airville. George utilized his engineering skills to build all kinds of work and play items for his family and the farm. He also enjoyed bowling, military history and loved to coach his children’s sports teams. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Brogue, God Followers Senior Group and St. James Clothes Closet. George served as Vice President of Tower Council at Frey Village. He was a US Army veteran. Mr. Daneker is survived by a son, George W. Daneker, Jr., MD and wife Bonnie Bajorek Daneker of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Suzanne Daneker Cameron and husband Glenn of Middletown, and Christine D. McLaughlin and husband, J. Michael of Indiana, PA; seven grandchildren; Roy Spencer, Matthew and Elliot Daneker; Melissa and husband Damon Kaylor; Sarah Cameron and fiancé Dane Fahnestock; and Michael and Katie McLaughlin; two great granddaughters, Laney Jo Kaylor and Kenley Cameron Fahnestock; a sister in law, Marlene Daneker of Williamsport; and his Cockapoo, “Mollie.” He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Robert Daneker. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Flower Fund, 2335 Cramer Road, Brogue, PA 17309.
