WILKES-BARRE-Frank A. Galano, 81, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Hospice of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born in San Pietro, Catanzaro, Italy on November 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Vincent and Elizabeth Trovato Gallamo. He came with his parents to the United States when he was eight months old and has since resided in the Heights Section of Wilkes-Barre. He attended G.A.R. High School and is a veteran of WWII where he served with the United States Navy. He was employed as a mechanic by Roscoe Miller Cadillac, A. Eidam Cadillac, and prior to retirement at Ertley, Kingston. Frank was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Wilkes-Barre and a life member of the former V.F.W. Post 50, Ashley. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Gallamo. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife the former Theresa Grasso with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 27, as well as his daughter Donna and her husband Joseph Yurek, Lawrence, KS; and grandson, Joshua Yurek. Also surviving are sister-in-laws, Mary Gallamo, Wilkes-Barre, Catherine Cassano, Hazleton, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 9:00 AM from Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Holy Rosary Church, Park Avenue, with Monsignor Joseph P. Kelly, his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Monday 5-8 PM. The family requests no flowers, but wishes to thank Dr. Kish and Dr. Saidman, the WVHC staff and transitional care, Little Flower Manor, and Hospice of the VNA for the excellent care of Frank and his family during his illness.
