Evelyn A. Kerr

YORK – Evelyn A. (Herman) Kerr, 93, died peacefully at Celebration Villas on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Albert H. Kerr, Jr. in 2000.

Born September 1, 1929 in Red Lion, a daughter of the late Bryan and Lucy (Taylor) Herman, she was a 1947 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School. Evelyn, along with her husband Al, owned and operated Kerr Plumbing and Heating in York until their retirement in 1985. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in York, now joined with Calvary United Methodist Church.

As a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend; Evelyn enjoyed spending time together and telling stories. She had a special love of the river and the beach, especially Chincoteague, VA. Evelyn most recently enjoyed the activities and adventures at Celebration Villas including coloring, painting, and going for drives.

Evelyn is survived by a sister, Joan (Herman) Hoffman, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Herman and Deloris (Herman) Grammes; and three brothers, Bryan, Kenneth, and Robert Herman.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the loving “family” of caregivers who provided wonderful care of Evelyn at Celebration Villas and those who provided care prior to her moving. We also thank Memorial White Rose Hospice for their comfort and care.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, April 10, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Rev. Tanya Brubaker officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
