ROME, PA- Eugene S. Thomas, 68, of Windham Twp., formerly of York, died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his residence. He was the husband of Ann Marie (Goheen) Thomas. A Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York, with full Military Honors by York County Veteran's Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 9:30- 10:15a.m. on Tuesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Mr. Thomas was born in York on July 16, 1941, a son of Blender M. (Worley) Thomas of York and the late Claude S. Thomas. He worked as a Fork Lift Operator for the former Lyon's Metal Company and AWI of Robesonia. He was also a fossil collector and preparer. He was a member of the former York Rock and Mineral Club. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Thomas leaves a son, Michael Thomas and his wife Jennifer and their two children, Liam and Olivia of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter, Sherry (Thomas) Paup and her daughter, Jayde of York; three sisters, Geraldine Ward of York, Betty Greenman of Florida, and Virginia Thomas of York; also surviving, Dwane Rahley. A brother, Steven Thomas had preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to Robert Packer Hospital, Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
