Elsie M. (Hengst) Stine

Jacobus--Elsie M. (Hengst) Stine, 92, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Walter S. Stine. A Celebration of Life will be 10AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with her pastor, the Rev. Tina H. Minnich officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8PM, Tuesday and from 9-10AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Stine’s family will also be Celebrating the Life of her daughter, Brenda Stine during Wednesday’s Service. Born September 14, 1925 in Springfield Township, she was a daughter of the late Fred C. and Sarah B. (Ness) Hengst. She was employed as a cook for 32 years with Smith Village Home Furnishings in Jacobus until her retirement in 1987. A member of Salem Lutheran Church—Jacobus, she was also a member of the Jacobus Leisure Club and enjoyed reading and gardening. Mrs. Stine is survived by three sons, David Stine and wife, Chong of Toms River, NJ, Lester Stine of Smithfield, VA, Jeffrey Stine and wife, Michelle of State College; two daughters, Janet Mann and husband, Jim of Windsor, Ontario, Canada and Peggy Hartman and husband, Larry of Dover; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Hengst Jr of Etters and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stine was preceded in death by two children, Randy Stine and Brenda Stine; one granddaughter, Erica Miller; one grandson, Gregory Stine and 6 siblings.
