RED LION- Dorothy S. (Grove) Shaffer, 92, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Arthur P. Shaffer. The couple had been married for 68 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with the Rev. William C. Smith, retired pastor of Windsor Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Shaffer was born March 7, 1915, in Windsor Twp., a daughter of the late Henry and Sarah (Paulis) Grove. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of Windsor Church of God and the former Christian and Missionary Alliance in Red Lion. She taught Sunday school at the former church. She was a great cook and liked to entertain the new missionaries and pastors when they came to town. Mrs. Shaffer was a very independent person. Mrs. Shaffer leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. and Anne L. Shaffer of York; a grandchild; two great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Clair T. Shaffer of Minneapolis, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are three brothers and two sisters.
