EDWARDSVILLE-Dorothy Zavatsky Baurys, 85, of Edwardsville, passed away Sunday in Heritage House. Born on March 9th, 1925, Dorothy called Edwardsville home. She was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Rusnak Zavatsky. Dorothy was employed in her youth by Blue Ribbon Bakery. She was later employed by Mercy Hospital until her retirement. She loved casino trips, going to the farmer's market and watching music shows, especially Pennsylvania Polkas and ballroom dancing and all things Betty Boop. She had a wonderful sense of humor that even Alzheimer's could never take away. She found beauty in the simplest things-a flower growing in the crack of a sidewalk. She was superstitious in a positive way, believing everything was a sign of good luck to come. Her daughter would like to thank Dr. Louise Breakstone and Dr. Sandhya Desai for her mother's care and Forlenza's Pharmacy for looking after her mother's best interest as if she were their own. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Homza, Edwardsville, and brother John Zavatsky, Pringle. She is survived by her companion of 35 years, John Talpash, Edwardsville and their Chihuahua, Dusty. Also she leaves her daughter, caregiver and best girlfriend, Myra Baurys, Edwardsville. "Dance with me Mama." Services were private. Arrangements were entrusted to Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
