WILKES-BARRE-Doris M. Zdan, 86, of Kelly Ave., Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday evening at her home. Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 18, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Elsie (Hontz) Moser. She was a 1939 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School and a member of "The 39ers". Mrs. Zdan was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Apple Gatherers and The Ruth Group. She was also an Elder who served on Session and a Deacon. She was a member and past president of Serve Your City Club of Wilkes-Barre, the Wyoming Valley Women's Club and a literacy volunteer. During World War II, she worked at an aircraft plant in Baltimore, Md. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a legal secretary at the law firm of Silverblatt and Townend, as well as Gilbert S. McClintock, Esq. And architect Ralph Melone. She was also personal secretary to former Governor Arthur H. James. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Zdan, who passed away January 12, 2001; and infant brother, Joseph Moser. Surviving are her son and daughter-in law, Michael J. and Dawn Zdan of Bear Creek; daughter Janet Looker of Florida; grandchildren, Herbert Pinero, David Pinero and Rachel Reed; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Schmaler of New York. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Micki Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
