MUNCY - David C. “Dave” “Daisy” Neidig, Sr., 72, loving husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Dave was born on July 12, 1939, a son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Laver) Neidig. He attended St. Mary’s High School and was a retired optician from Neidig’s Opticians. Dave enjoyed working on his family farm and traveling the country with his wife of 53 years, Elaine (Kase) Neidig, who survives. They had worked for Don Prudhomme racing for many years; together they both enjoyed NHRA Drag Racing. Dave was a life member of Gesang Verein Harmonia Club. He had enjoyed golfing, hunting, baseball, traveling and just being around his 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His smiling presence brightened any room he entered and he enjoyed his friends and family. In addition to his wife and grandchildren, Dave is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; David and Holly Neidig, Jr. of Muncy, Michael and Kim Neidig of Watsontown, Alan and Ann Neidig of Williamsport and Randy and Cheryl Neidig of New Kingstown, one daughter and son-in-law; Christine and Rick Andrews of Montgomery, two brothers and three sisters-in-law; Andrew and Barb Neidig of Williamsport, Norman and Sandy Neidig of Watsontown and Rosie Neidig of Montoursville, three sisters and three brothers-in-law; Marilyn Pautz of Montoursville, Mary Jane and Arnie Betts of Montoursville, Darlene and Bruce Wilson of San Francisco, CA and Mario Minnella of Lansdale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; Paul Neidig, Sr., one sister; Rosie Minnella and one brother-in-law; Charlie Pautz. At Dave’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation. The funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA 17756 with the Reverend Glenn McCreary officiating. Immediately following the church service, a light lunch will be provided at the Harmonia Club. Arrangements are being handled by the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
