EAST BERLIN- Dallas B. "Jack" Smith, 78, formally of Dallastown, died on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Norma J. (Barndt) Smith to whom he was married to for over 61 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion. Certified Celebrant, Betty Frey will officiate. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. There will be a private service for the family at the graveside. Mr. Smith was born on June 22, 1932 in York, a son of the late Dallas L. and Pauline (Keller) Smith. Dallas was a 1950 graduate of Dallastown High School. He worked as a Supervisor for ESAB for over 30 years until his retirement on April 1, 1996. Mr. Smith enjoyed golfing at Red Lion Country Club where he won the Club Championship in 1959.He participated and enjoyed watching his family play sports. He was a life member of the Victory Club. Along with his wife, Norma, Dallas is survived by three sons, Stephen M. Smith and his wife, Crystal of York, Mark A. Smith of York, and Chris D. Smith of York; four daughters, Barbara A. Sipe and her husband, Trae of Dallastown, Susan J. Axe and her husband, Richard of York, Lisa J. Markley and her husband, Lonnie of York, and Jody L. Dunlap and her husband, Jeff of Lower Windsor; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two brothers, Gary L. Smith and his wife, Nancy of Red Lion, and B. Craig Smith and his wife, Fae of Dallastown. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy B. Smith.
