York—Charles E. Rosengrant Jr., 85, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, William and Joan in York. He was the loving husband of the late Frances L. "Frankie" (Jacobs) Rosengrant, who he now joins in Heaven. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with Chaplain Margie Smith of Heartland Hospice, officiating. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born July 13, 1924 in York, he was a son of the late Charles E. Rosengrant Sr., and Emma V. (Le Sage) Rosengrant. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII in the Western Pacific. Charles retired from Caterpillar in York, after thirty years of dedicated service and was a former president of the local UAW 786. He was a member of Shiloh American Legion, West York V.F.W and the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Charles loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed fishing and bingo. He lived in Las Vegas for a few years with his daughter, Coleen, granddaughter, Stephanie Helton and great-grandson, David Meyer, and had many wonderful friends there who will miss him. Charles loved his family, his friends and his country. Mr. Rosengrant leaves a large and loving family who will miss him very much. He is survived by his 7 loving children, two daughters, Barbara A. Kreamer, of Hershey and Coleen P. Eichler of Las Vegas, NV, five sons, Charles E. Rosengrant III, and his wife, Trina, William L. Rosengrant and his wife, Joan, both of York, Gary S. Rosengrant and his wife, Sherry, and James B. and Darryl C. Rosengrant, all of Dover, 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-granddaughter, who all had a very special place in his heart, two sisters, Mabel L. Graham and Yvonne F. Johnson and her husband, William, both of York. He was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, and 3 brothers, Robert B., Jack G., and Allen T. Rosengrant. Memorial contributions may be made to the York County Veterans Honor Guard, P.O. Box 712, Mt. Wolf, Pa 17347. Mr. Rosengrant's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care he was given.
