CRALEY- Barry C. Sitler, 83, died peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Daune L. (Shoff) Sitler to whom he was married to for 61 wonderful years. Born on April 22, 1938 in York, he was the son of the late F. Edgar “Babe” and Mildred M. (Shelly) Sitler. He was a 1956 graduate of Red Lion High School, where he played multiple sports. Upon graduation, Barry attended Rider College in New Jersey. He then went on to serve in the 211th GEEIA Squadron of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. In 1974, Barry acquired the family grocery store, Sitler’s Store, which was started by his father Babe in 1931. In 1989, Barry and Daune expanded the store by building Barry’s Country Food Market, which quickly became the heart of Craley. Barry believed in his small town and served Craley to the very end. He was known for handing out his free ranch fries to kids, greeting all with a loving smile, and charming everyone with his caring personality. Barry was loved by the community. He could be found bagging groceries, working in the meat room, unloading produce, or stocking shelves. Besides being a dedicated businessman, he cared tremendously for his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Barry enjoyed riding his horses, woodworking in his workshop, spending time with his children, and cheering for his grandchildren at school sporting events. His infectious smile, grandpa hugs, and loving nod of approval will be missed. Along with his wife- Daune, Barry is survived by a daughter, Valerie Smeltzer and her husband, Henry of Craley; a son, Barry "Wade" Sitler and his wife, Catherine of Wrightsville; 5 grandchildren, Luke Smeltzer and his wife, Lauren; Mason Smeltzer and his fiancé, Michelle; Barry "Jake" Sitler and his wife, Jamie; Erika Lyter and her husband, Michael and Rebecca Sitler and her fiancé, Lee; four great grandchildren, Levi Smeltzer, Fletcher Sitler, MacKenzie Lyter, and Sophie Lyter; and his sister, Kitty Seitz and her husband, Lafean of Red Lion, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
