Anastasia (Zahos) Lainas

YORK – Anastasia (Zahos) Lainas, 82, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dimitrios Lainas. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Pine Grove Rd., York with her priest, The Rev. Fr. Andrew N. Tsikitas officiating. A viewing will be held from 11-12:00 Noon at the Church. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born July 8, 1932 in Neohorion, Nafpaktias, Greece; a daughter of the late John and Lambrini (Alpoyannis) Zahos, she retired from Danskin, Inc. Mrs. Lainas was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. Mrs. Lainas is survived by a daughter, Efrosiny and husband Athanasios Vellios of York; a son, Chris Lainas of York; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Spiridoula Branis of Greece, Ekaterini Masgalas, Aglaia Tsogas, and Sotiria Lamnatos all of York; a brother, Vasilios Zahos of York; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lambrini Kalathas; and a brother, Demetrios Zahos. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 2500 Pine Grove Rd., York, PA 17403.
